About Us
Saint Joseph’s Workshop, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization, was founded for the purpose of helping people in need with wood furniture and other household goods. To accomplish this goal, we operate out of a building in Shrewsbury, NJ, which serves as our restoration workshop and staging location for furniture to be given to those in need or be sold to patrons to financially support the organization and its mission. Saint Joseph’s Workshop is a 100% volunteer organization.
Our philosophy is simple. We believe there exists an ample supply of good furniture in people’s homes, garages and storage facilities which are underutilized, and once restored, would be of great use to families in need.
The operating model of Saint Joseph’s Workshop is straightforward. Supporters of the mission donate wood furniture in almost any condition or we rescue furniture put to the curb on bulk collection days in local towns. We restore, repair, refurbish and re-purpose the furniture as needed and store for later distribution. We work with local organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, 180 Turning Lives Around, The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski III Memorial Fund and various churches and related religious organizations to identify individuals and families in need of furniture. We then deliver the furniture to the recipients at no cost to them.
Certain of the furniture will be sold to generate funds to operate the workshop and defray costs. Furniture will be sold through periodic Open House Sales, on various internet sites, and through this website (see Buy Furniture page).
Saint Joseph’s Workshop is not affiliated with any religious organization.
